Silicon moulding also known as RTV - Room Temperature Vulcanizing is very common process in RP industry, typically used for the production of small series of functional plastic prototypes. A broad range of liquid thermoset plastics are available for casting these parts. The most frequent use for silicone tooling is in the vacuum casting of polyurethane to reproduce quickly and economically, copies of original components. Polyurethanes with different physical properties enables the production of prototypes to be used for functional testing under different conditions.

SLA, FDM, SLS, CNC, Injection moulded or original part made by any other manufacturing method.
Maximum Tooling size
700 x 650 x 600mm
Typical silicon mould life
20 pcs per mould, subject to part geometry and complexity.
Polyurethanes Specifications

Thermoset plastics similar to ABS, Nylon, Polycarbonate (PC), PolyPropylene (PP), Elastomers
Shore A cast urethanes (Rubber like)
From Shore A20(Soft) to Shore A60(Hard) for flexible parts
Shore D cast urethanes (Rugged parts)
Cast from shore 60D to 90D, provide improved impact resistance, stiffness, and strength.
Heat Deflection Temperatures Generally 75°C (167F) but special urethanes available upto 120°C (230F)
Colours Water clear or light colour base materials can be directly pigmented to the required color otherwise painted to the customer specific colour.
Tensile Strength Up to 550 kg/cm2
Surface Finish High surface finishing quality comparable to injection moulding. Texture finish can be applied to painted parts in the form of a texture coat, varying from a EDM type light texture, to a heavy texture.
Clear parts Water clear parts for see-thru applications are available in fully transparent or translucent finishes.
Insert Moulding Threaded inserts, studs, brackets, wires or any custom parts can be fully encapsulated in the material.
