Arptech is an Australian based leading prototyping service provider,
using innovative technologies and equipments to produce high
quality prototypes and short-series production parts. Along
with the successive steps in design process, different types
of prototypes and RP technologies are needed to optimise the
communication. Choosing between the various RP technologies
can be difficult and challenging. We have compiled detailed
listing and guidelines of RP services to aid you in decision
making process. Please follow relevant links or contact us to

FDM,
also known as Fused Deposition Modeling is layered manufacturing
process. FDM offers functional prototypes with ABS, and other
materials. A thin bead of molten plastic is extruded through
the computer controlled nozzle, which is deposited on a layer-by-layer
basis to construct a prototype directly from 3D CAD data. The
technology is commonly applied to form, fit and function analysis
and concept visualisation. In addition, FDM can be used for
pattern generation and rapid manufacturing.

SLA,
also known as Stereolithography, provides the greatest accuracy
with an excellent surface finish. Process works by curing liquid
photopolymers when exposed to ultraviolet light. SLA is limited
in its range of applicable materials but still widely used for
conceptual designs, Product verification, Pattern making, Form/Fit
analysis and light functional testing. |

SLS,
also known as Selective Laser Sintering, primarily used to quickly
produce three dimensional parts, layer by layer, from powdered
materials. The CO2 Laser provides a concentrated heating which
welds (sinters) the powder within a precisely controlled chamber.
SLS has distinctive advantage of having wide variety of materials
that can be suitable for functional analysis. |

3DP also known as 3D printing works on FDM principle as a layered
manufacturing process. 3DP offers prototypes with thermoplastic
Polyester material. A thin bead of molten plastic is extruded
through the computer controlled nozzle, which is deposited on
a layer-by-layer basis to construct a prototype directly from
3D CAD data. The technology is commonly applied to initial conceptual
design. In addition, parts can be used for form fit and light
testing purpose.

CNC, stands for Computer Numerical Control, applies to machine
control system but erroneously used as a replacement term for
NC. CNC is a generic term for vast field of numerical controllers.
Our application is related to CNC Milling; used for machining
complex parts and shapes hard to machine with conventional machines.
Firstly cutter path is generated direct from the CAD model,
which is transferred to machine controller in the form of numerical
data. This data is used to move the machine table and tool to
create the high precision jobs. |

VC (Vacuum Casting) is widely used process in rapid prototyping
industry, typically used for making 20 to 40 pieces of functional
prototypes out of broad range of polyurethanes and other polymers
available. The process starts with creation of an accurate and
highly finished master model which can be created using various
RP techniques e.g. SLA, FDM, SLS, CNC or existing part. This
model is carefully placed in a mold box and liquid silicon rubber
is poured over the master. After curing the silicon, mould is
cut as per split line established and master model is removed,
leaving an accurately formed cavities. Now these mould cavities
are used to cast large variety of polyurethane or epoxy materials
available. This allows fast production of high quality parts
in a short lead time. A broad range of polyurethanes with various
physical properties enable the production of prototypes to more
closely mimic the functional properties of engineering thermoplastics.
